FAQ
How do I register?
Technically speaking, there is no registration - you just sign in with your Twitter account.
What if I don’t have a Twitter account?
At this point in time you need a Twitter account to get the most out of SocialGuides, so we recommend you head over to Twitter.com and sign up - even if it is only so you can use SocialGuides.
If you don’t want to sign-up for Twitter, you can still use our site to see what everyone is saying about all the places you love and the places you want to check out - you just wont be able to check-in, rate or comment on your favorite places.
We decided to focus on Twitter now to make it easy for people to log-in (no sign up which is nice) and to stay focused.
How do I post notes on SocialGuides?
Notes are the short, concise expressions of what you’re experiencing at the moment. Usually, we take those moments and convey them to our friends later, when asked “How was it there?” SocialGuides lets you do that in the now. Write a small blurb about something you feel is meaningful, if only for a moment, about the place and time you are in.
In fact, please feel free to add notes about places you’ve been, or places you want to go.
Posting a Note on your Homepage
In your “What’s up…” box you can post a note about a place by using the # symbol. Places that are one word get the # at the beginning and places that are more than one word have the # at the beginning and the end.
Examples: #Starbucks #The Cheesecake Factory#
You can also talk directly to people using the @-reply function. If you would like to write to someone simply us the @ symbol before their SocialGuides username
Example: hello @jeremyalmond how is #The Cheesecake Factory# looking tonight?
You can view everyone who is talking to you in your own @-reply tab located at the left of your home screen.
What is my Home Screen?
On your home screen you will notice 4 tabs.
Community: Shows everyone in your current location
Your Network: shows all of the people who you are following
Everyone: Shows every user on SocialGuides
@-replys: Shows everyone talking to you
How does this all work?
Well, we’d love to tell, but if we did…
